The Jeannette Neill Dance Studio Repertory Concert
The Jeannette Neill Dance Studio student/faculty repertory concerts
are produced twice yearly at the Tsai Performance Center. Students of the studio
choose a teacher or choreographer with whom they would like to work, then spend
ten weeks developing and learning a piece of choreography. The rehearsal period
ends with a week of blocking, lighting and technical rehearsals, dress rehearsal
and performances on two consecutive evenings.
These concerts offer students invaluable performance experience. They also give
professional choreographers a testing ground in which to develop new works for
their own companies.
The repertory experience engenders a love and respect for dance, thereby increasing
Boston's dance audience in general. Offering non-professional dancers the chance to
participate in a professional and well-produced concert and to share the stage with
professional dancers allows them to experience the thrill of live performance and
to appreciate the discipline and artistry of professional dance.
The Jeannette Neill Dance Studio has touched the lives of literally thousands of people.
It has been home to more than fifteen professional dance companies and housed the touring
companies of at least a two dozen Broadway shows. Its faculty has included more than
a hundred of New England's finest teachers, and the list of master guest instructors
at the studio is virtually a who's who of dance.
